Mary Gordon is a Center Director for PIRE’s Calverton, MD, location. She also serves as PIRE’s Corporate Secretary. A PIRE employee since 1992, she has focused her career on public health and law enforcement related projects. Through her professional experience in research administration, she has been responsible for program administration, strategic policy development, and training in several health and behavioral research programs. Ms. Gordon was Director of OJJDP’s Underage Drinking Enforcement Training Center (UDETC), which was administered by PIRE for 16 years. As Director, she managed a three-million dollar budget, supervised senior staff, and collaborated with over 30 law enforcement and judicial consultants. Ms. Gordon’s work with the UDETC provided over 200 trainings to law enforcement and community agencies/groups and developed 31 evidence-based documents that offered tools and operational guidance for law enforcement personnel.

Currently she is the Principal Investigator on PIRE’s NIJ-funded 21st Century Policing: Cross-Site, Multi-Stakeholder Sentinel Event Review Project. Partnering with 21st Century Policing (21CP) LLC, the PIRE team focuses on identifying the elements of sentinel events in order to problem solve the underlying factors in multi-jurisdictional systems to develop and support ways that result in improvements in the criminal justice system and in police community trust and legitimacy.

Ms. Gordon has experience managing complex projects and has exercised this skill at the state, local, and federal levels, working with diverse and mainstream populations, to improve public health outcomes.
